All services are provided by Dr. Gooya Goudarzi, OD, MSc.
Comprehensive Eye Exams
A thorough eye exam at Metro Eyes is far more than a vision check. Dr. Goudarzi evaluates your visual acuity, refractive error, focusing ability, eye alignment, eye pressure, anterior segment health, and retinal integrity. Routine exams can detect early signs of glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, cataracts, and other conditions before symptoms appear. We welcome patients ages 4 and up, and most vision and medical insurance plans are accepted.
Pediatric Eye Care
Children depend on good vision for reading, learning, and development. Dr. Goudarzi provides age-appropriate eye exams for children starting at age 4, assessing visual acuity, eye alignment, focusing ability, and early signs of myopia or amblyopia. Early detection matters: undetected vision problems are a leading cause of learning difficulties. We make exams calm and child-friendly, and we talk with both the child and the parent about what we find.
Medical Eye Care
Many eye conditions require ongoing medical management, not just a glasses prescription. Dr. Goudarzi evaluates and manages dry eye disease, anterior segment conditions, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and cataracts. She also provides high-risk medication monitoring (such as Plaquenil/hydroxychloroquine toxicity screening) and co-manages surgical patients before and after LASIK or cataract procedures. Medical eye visits are typically billed to your medical insurance.
Myopia Management
Nearsightedness in children is not just an inconvenience — it is a progressive condition that increases the risk of serious eye disease later in life. Dr. Goudarzi uses evidence-based strategies to slow myopia progression, including low-dose atropine therapy, MiSight 1 Day contact lenses, and orthokeratology (OK lenses worn overnight to reshape the cornea). Early intervention during childhood and adolescence produces the best outcomes. We monitor progress at regular intervals and adjust the plan as needed.
Contact Lens Exams & Fittings
A contact lens exam is a separate evaluation from a standard eye exam. Dr. Goudarzi assesses the health of your cornea, measures your eye's curvature, and selects the right lens material and design for your vision needs and lifestyle. We fit daily disposables, bi-weekly and monthly lenses, toric lenses for astigmatism, multifocal lenses for presbyopia, and soft lenses for a wide range of prescriptions. Trial lenses are provided before finalizing your prescription.
Specialty Contact Lenses
Patients who cannot achieve clear or comfortable vision with standard soft lenses may benefit from specialty contact lens designs. Dr. Goudarzi has extensive experience fitting scleral lenses, gas-permeable (GP) lenses, hybrid lenses, and keratoconus-specific designs. Scleral lenses vault entirely over the cornea and rest on the sclera, making them highly effective for irregular corneas, dry eye, post-surgical complications, and corneal dystrophies. Each fitting is customized based on detailed corneal measurements.
Emergency Eye Care
Sudden eye problems require prompt attention. Dr. Goudarzi provides same-day or urgent care for red eyes, eye pain, eye infections, foreign body sensation, eye injuries, sudden vision changes, new floaters, flashes of light, and other acute concerns. Do not wait for a scheduled appointment if you have an urgent eye issue — call the office and we will do our best to see you the same day. Urgent eye visits are typically billed to your medical insurance.
LASIK & Cataract Co-Management
If you are considering LASIK refractive surgery or if you have been diagnosed with cataracts, Dr. Goudarzi provides pre-operative consultations to assess candidacy and post-operative follow-up care to monitor healing. Co-management means your surgery is performed by a specialist, while ongoing care before and after the procedure takes place conveniently at Metro Eyes. We work with experienced surgeons in the Northern Virginia area and communicate closely throughout the process.
